As an Enterprise Architect at Optum, you will work within our Transformational Growth Team to create architecture blueprints and multi-year roadmaps that act as guides to help Optum’s customers achieve the long-term strategic plans of their organizations. In this role you will take on some of the toughest challenges facing our healthcare customers and will act as a key contributor to achieving Optum’s long-term business strategy. Your ability to think and plan strategically while solving immediate business problems impacting our customers will play a pivotal role in understanding and shaping our strategy and approach. Primary Responsibilities: Lead and facilitate application and data architecture assessments and reviews, identify gaps and opportunities, and recommend business and technology solutions Analyze and evaluate current application and data environments to detect critical deficiencies and collaborate with other enterprise and development team architects to recommend solutions for improvement Ensure recommended solutions are aligned to Optum’s enterprise architecture standards and principles, leverage common solutions and services, and meet financial targets (cost and benefits) Act as a subject matter expert in the development of enterprise architecture solution deliverables Generate interface and data flow diagrams, and supporting documentation, for customer interfaces, tools, reporting, and solution data models Partner with application subject matter experts on customer application portfolio analysis and reconcile with interface and data flow diagrams Develop and present proposed solutions to customer organizations, through written and oral communication materials, that effectively summarize findings with recommendations You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: 10 years in Healthcare Provider IT interoperability, interface development and system architecture working with Epic and/or Cerner EMRs 3 years of related Healthcare Provider IT experience as a business architect, enterprise architect, solutions architect or similar role 3 years of designing technical specifications for interfaces 3 years of translating complex designs into MS Visio Diagrams Epic and/or Cerner architectural knowledge Deep knowledge of various integration protocols including HL7, EDI, and FTP Experience integrating CCD/CCDA’s Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Candidate must possess significant experience with healthcare information system planning, design, implementation and validation High proficiency in developing visual representations of architectural solutions Willing to travel 50% Preferred Qualifications: Experience with FHIR, JSON, and other approaches that healthcare uses to transfers data Advanced degree MBA or similar In-depth knowledge of business architecture and its role in creating business value Health plan data management and application architecture Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation High proficiency of both written and verbal English communication Excellent time management, communication, decision making, and presentation skills Technology Careers with Optum .
