Location: Seattle, WA, New York, NY, and open to Remote in the US Chronosphere Chronosphere is an early stage startup that provides an innovative monitoring as a service platform for cloud native applications. Chronosphere enables customers to operate reliable large scale cloud native/microservices based applications, and to do so simply and affordably. The Chronosphere platform is built on the open source M3 system developed at Uber Technologies by the Chronosphere founders and many of the Chronosphere engineering team. Uber and Chronosphere jointly lead the ongoing development of M3. About_the_role Chronosphere is looking for an outstanding marketing writer. You love writing and communicating about cloud native related topics; and want to establish a high standard for communications quality and effectiveness. This is a great opportunity to have a highly visible impact at a fast growing startup. You will Work with domain experts within and outside the company to produce clear, compelling marketing content. Work closely with product marketing, sales, and other areas of the company to plan a content roadmap. Write customer success stories, website content, blog posts, product collateral, and marketing newsletters, etc. Provide content to support the sales team engagements, and account based marketing (ABM) campaigns. What_you_will_achieve In your first 30 days, we will help you get up to speed on Chronosphere products and technology and we want to help you complete one piece of content (e.g. a customer success story, product data sheet, blog post, web content). You will also help develop internal writing style guides and standards. You will collaborate on that with technical/documentation writing staff so that both teams are sharing style guides etc. In three months you will have worked with executives, product marketing, and sales on a content plan and be executing on that plan, having produced multiple pieces of collateral. We are likely to prioritize general product web content and customer success stories early on. Your skills and expertise This role is a marketing writer role, but it’s on the technical side of marketing writing, you will need to have some understanding of cloud native technologies such as Kubernetes and Prometheus and how they are used. You will have: 5 years experience as a marketing writer, journalist or similar experience, with a significant part of that writing about cloud or cloud native related areas. Knowledge of modern cloud native related areas, e.g. work related to cloud native development, Kubernetes, Prometheus, public cloud services, etc. BA degree in English, Communications or a related area, or a BS degree in a relevant technical area. Strong interpersonal skills, with great availability to work with other individual staff and teams, especially an ability to work with domain experts and users to deliver high quality content. Experience as a team leader or manager leading other writers would be an advantage, especially for writers interested in growing into a management role. The team Reporting to Martin Mao, CEO Initially reporting to Martin Mao, CEO. This role will report into the marketing organization leadership as the marketing organization grows. Martin is the CEO of Chronosphere. He alongside CTO, Rob Skillington founded Chronosphere in May 2019. The two met while working at Microsoft and continued their work at Uber where they led the metrics and monitoring team together. Martin has previously owned and managed a consulting firm and has also worked for companies like Amazon and Google in Engineering roles.
