POSITION SUMMARY: The X-ray/Fluoroscopy Coordinator assists the Radiology Management team with the workflow and staffing schedules. The Coordinator is responsible for maintaining supplies on stock and communicating any equipment needs with management. The Coordinator is to ensure all exams are verified and completed for charging in a timely manner. The Coordinator assists with the compliance of all JCAHO standards, maintaining employee compliance, including technologist annual competencies and maintaining credentials up to date. The Coordinator is expected to actively participate with performance improvement projects and communicate necessary information to the staff members within the modality. POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS : Graduate of an accredited radiology program. Current state certification, Texas Medical Board (TMB) required. Current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) general certification required. American Heart Association BLS certification required. American Heart Association ACLS and PALS recommended. Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues. Secretarial experience and organizational skills are necessary. Good verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to read, write, and speak English required. Spanish preferred. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians. Computer knowledge required. JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE : At least two (2) years of hospital experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred. At least two (2) years of hospital experience in a supervisory position preferred. Able to demonstrate high degree of competency and experience with x-ray and fluoroscopy procedures. Demonstrates accuracy, and the ability to closely follow established procedures. Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment. Requires working with frequent interruptions. Must project a professional image. Must have excellent customer service skills. High degree of competency/experience in general diagnostic imaging, including fluoroscopy. Works well under stressful situations and frequent interruptions. POSITION RESPONSIBILITES: Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices Collaborate with other departments to ensure deliver of quality services. Assists in the management of staffing hours and reduction of overtime hours. Responsible for working with Radiology Management in implementing new protocols and communicating new protocols with staff. Performs necessary quality control and maintenance on equipment. Responsible for the care and cleanliness of equipment, supplies, and work area. Able to operate all appropriate clinical equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and directions. Responsible for performing all x-ray and fluoroscopy procedures in a timely manner per procedure protocols. Optimizes imaging examinations to use only the radiation necessary to produce diagnostic quality images. Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures. Assumes responsibility for patient specimen testing, quality control and quality improvement. Completes accurate documentation on patient records according to policy. Able to perform the necessary functions on the facility’s computer systems. Ensures exams are verified and completed for charging on PACS/RIS systems. Oversees new employee orientation and training in your area, when needed. Responsible for training radiologic technologists with the appropriate procedure protocols. Maintain Texas Department of Health (TDH), American College of Radiology (ACR), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Joint Commission standards, including cleanliness of work and procedural areas, all logs are filled out thoroughly, and equipment is in functional order. Responsible for employee compliance, including staff competencies (i.e. equipment), obtaining copies of licenses and credentials, all employee health requirements, and all hospital issued continuing education requirements.
